Essay + Contest
Our students were asked during the Covid-19 lockdown to make and submit essays, drawings, songs, poems etc. Here are their entries. They were asked to do something with a biblical theme or an idea, this was given some leeway.

We had some great entries, and it was hard to judge because many were great! I am honestly so impressed with these students!!! Thank you for sharing. We will do this again!!!

After hours and hours of scoring and counting and recounting and judging. These are the conclusions. Their cash prizes will be in the mail before you can whistle the X-files theme song...

Note: we had a tie for second place!!

The Trinity
Three persons make up God.
At first this seems rather odd.
The Father and Son
And the ghostly one
Make up the three-in-one God.
The first of the three is the Father.
In the beginning, he was the creator
He formed the Earth
And filled it with mirth
And promised to love us forever.
Up next we have the Son.
He was the perfect one.
He came and died
That we may abide
With him in Heaven anon.
The third is the Holy Ghost.
He Helps us out the most.
He lives in us
And intercedes for us
Without his help we would be lost.
He also Made the Stars
Night has fallen so
Outside I now go.
I lift my eyes
Up to the skies.
I see the starts so bright,
Shining points against the night.
Their varying size and brightnesses
Due to their different distances.
Together they make constellations
From ancient stories or imaginations.
The night is clear and I can see
It seems out to infinity.
Then I see a lighter haze,
The Milky Way caught in my Gaze.
I think it sad the stars will die,
But stop before I cry.
They may age and then explode
But a new life is then bestowed.
Gasses from the star expand
Forming Nebulae, very grand.
We mostly see them through photos
With vibrant colors which shows
The different atoms present in each.
Forming a sort of gaseous sleech.
These various beauties of the night
Make me think of the maker of Light.
He made these scenes above
And looks down on us with love.
The One who made these magnificent views
Will make something beautiful of us too.

Just The Three Of Us
It was just the THREE OF US,
NOT BOWING DOWN.
WE COULDN'T POSSIBLY
BOW TO THE CROWN.
HIS OFFICERS SPOTTED US,
“WHAT HAVE WE HERE?
if YOU DON'T BOW DOWN,
YOUR DEATH IS QUITE NEAR!”
we QUIETLY STOOD,
AND THE OFFICERS FUMED.
“ALL RIGHT NOW YOU THREE,
YOU ALL ARE NOW DOOMED”
THEY PULLED US AWAY TO THE KING,
WHO WAS MAD.
HE SAID THIS BEHAVIOR
WAS NOT TO BE HAD.
HE ORDERED THE FURNACE BE MADE
SEVEN TIMES HOTTER.
WE KNEW HAT TO OUR GOD,
THE HEAT WAS NO BOTHER.
HE MADE US WALK IN THERE,
AND WE HAD NO DOUBT,
THAT OUR GOD AND SAVIOR
COULD MAKE US WALK OUT.
WE STOOD IN THAT FURNACE,
NOT EVEN A HAIR,
WAS TOUCHED ON OUR HEAD
WHILE WE WERE IN THERE.
AND ALL OF A SUDDEN,
THERE STOOD BY OUR SIDE,
A FIGURE FROM HEAVEN,
WE THOUGHT WE HAD DIED!
THEN NEBUCHADNEZZAR
WITH EYES OPEN WIDE,
CALLED OUT TO US: “COME OUT...
IF YOU ARE ALIVE!”
WE WALKED OUT TO GREET HIM
AS CALM AS COULD BE,
THE SHOCK ON HIS FACE,
ALMOST FUNNY TO SEE!
WE LOOKED UP TO HEAVEN,
TO THANK GOD ABOVE,
AMAZED AT OUR God's
NEVER ENDING, FREE LOVE.
